Apple upgrades iPhone materials and battery life… Finally, now maybe someone will WANT one
Apparently reacting to the media’s total indifference and lack of coverage to the iPhone (that’s a joke people), Apple has revealed that the iPhone will ship with some upgraded tech specs.
First up, battery life. Apple originally claimed the iPhone would be able to deliver 5 hours of talk time, 16 hours of audio, and about 5 hours of video playback time. The newly released specs are claiming 8 hours of talk, 24 hours of audio, 7 video, and 6 hours of internet use. Add to that a pretty darn impressive 250 hours of standby time, and I think it’s safe to say they addressed the battery life concerns.
The second upgrade addresses one of the iPhone’s other big question marks, “How easy will it be to the scratch the screen?“. The iPod’s track record in this area is less than stellar, and since the iPhone REQUIRES you touch its screen to use it, people were understandably concerned. Apple has now addressed this issue as well, saying they have upgraded the iPhone’s touch screen to use “optical-quality glass” instead of the more easily scratchable plastic of the iPod. No word yet on what happens if you drop an iPhone now, but we’re hoping people treat the iPhone with reverence, like the sacred object it is.
Will iPhone be able to run Skype ?
I’m not interested to pay for cellular services when I can contact people through Skype.
The value of the iPhone would be a lot higher with Skype, from my point of view.
