OMFG!! A ROUNDER HOME BUTTON!!!
In these the days of insane over analysis of all things iPhone, we find it odd that this one seems to have slipped under the radar. The recent photos from Gizmodo of the new 3G iPhone displays hitting Apple stores show a clearly “rounder” white shape on the home button than that found on either the 1st gen iPhone, or Apple’s 3G renderings on its site.
Today’s leaked pictures of the 3G iPhone in the wild seem to imply the home button is indeed the same squarish shape it’s always been, so what’s the deal? Did Apple farm out the display unit manufacturing to a company without a ruler? We wouldn’t doubt it, because we noticed something else odd about these display iPhones… they’re freaking HUGE! Like… 30 times bigger than the iPhone. Sloppy craftsmanship all around.
Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Jordan for the tip!

I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight! Thanks very much Doc!
Heh. Sometimes I have a hard time telling if you’re serious.
100% spherical…
I am freaking out. I am totally freaking out. Just when I thought the iPhone was perfect, they go and do something like this. Jobs and Ives are geniuses. iPhone, disappear me!
They had the giant window displays (or really fancy plasma tv frames) for the last iPhone launch also.
“Heh. Sometimes I have a hard time telling if you’re serious.”
A mark of good humor.
Isn’t this the iPhone Stephen Colbert said he wanted?
