Business Dean leaves leaves Yale for “Apple University” – prepares for Steve Balmer panty raids
Bloomberg is reporting that Joel Podolny, the dean of the Yale School of Management, is leaving his position with the University November 1st and will serve as vice president and dean of Apple University, a mysterious new program being created on Apple’s Cupertino Campus. We imagine it to be not unlike Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, only with more magic.

Perhaps the most interesting thing here is not the new Apple University, but that Podolny is apparently only 43 years old. Now, I admit that math is not my strong suit, but the Bloomberg article mentions he has been at Yale for 5 years, and was previously a professor at Harvard Business School and Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business for 11 years. By my calculations, that means Podolny became a professor at the age of 9, which means he never had a chance to have a real job in the business world, and likely went straight to teaching and “deaning” about business right out of school. I’m sure he’s a bright guy and all, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple University turns out to be a party school kids apply to just for the warm weather.
hmmm…
43 – 5 years at Yaleis 38
38 – 11 years at Stanford is 27
so assuming he went to grad school, then yes, the guy never had a day job. Maybe all his classes use the “lemonade”stand metaphor” because that’s the only job he ever had.
And it doesn’t say how long we worked at Harvard…
wow.
Yeah. Same thing applies to Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Just think if they had gotten real jobs and finished school. Wow. Everyone knows you can’t teach or coach without doing it first. Right? Probably can’t even operate on someone without having the illness yourself, huh?
Just having fun and giving you guys some grief. C’mon, this guy is tops in his field. Hoping Apple University can teach Doc Mac to get this site to load faster. 😉
