WorldMate’s promo video points out the crap problem on the iTunes store

WorldMate, a new application for managing air travel designed for busy, globe-trotting professionals, takes a couple well deserved pop-shots at the “crap” apps flooding the iTunes store in this very well-made promo piece. As someone who has run into far too many of these “crap app-loving” guys, I feel these apps both cheapen us iPhone users as a whole, and help keep some people from taking the iPhone seriously. (That being said, I am working on my own crap app… )

I’d actually love to see more advertising of this quality for specific apps. Given how flooded the store is with things like virtual lighters and fake beer-drinking apps, spending a little dough on outside marketing like this is probably one of the few options left to developers looking to get their app noticed.

Personally, I am so unprofessional and sedentary that I would likely never have need of WorldMate, but if I ever did leave Macenstein Labs to take a much needed vacation from sitting all day, I would definitely check them out based on the amount of effort they put into this video alone (although I’d probably check out their free version of WorldMate before I plunked down $20 for their WorldMate Gold).
