No iPads in stock? Just buy a Hyundai
Faithful Macenstein reader Dan points us to one of the more unusual auto promotions going on right now. Hyundai has decided to cash in on the iPad craze by offering a free iPad with every new 2011 Hyundai Equus.
While giving away the latest Apple product to entice buyers is nothing new, what makes the iPad tie-in unique is that Hyundai has decided to load the Equss’ user manual onto the iPad. and it’s not just going to be a lame PDF or something. Hyundai Motor America CEO John Krafcik claims the user manual will be “interactive”, and users can also use the app to make service appointments form their iPad.
No word yet on which model iPad you’ll be getting with Equus, but one thing’s for sure, if you are in the market for a $55,000 Equus, odds are you can probably afford your own iPad. Still, free is free, and if you can’t wait until your local store gets its stock back, this is a great option.

I’ve been waiting for this. My friends keep telling me to suck it up and get a normal maul. “Not good enough.” I say, “I want an interactive user maul.” Thank you, Hyundai. Most companies wouldn’t want to arm customers. Their loss, I say.
I may have to start banning readers from sarcastically pointing out typos in my articles.
Or learn to proof read better, but I have a feeling that ain’t gonna happen…
Thanks Dave.

Type-Os are a great idea. They could taste like Cheerios, but shaped like letters. Has anyone ever marketed an alphabet cereal?
For all I knew, Type-O’s are the universal blood donors.
You’ll have to Equss me for saying, but being both Hyundai nut and Apple junkie, this is a pretty amazing idea!
That was one of the funniest exchanges I’ve ever read online. I love Mac folks.
While we’re on the subject of cereal, you could call them Alpha-Bytes…
I believe that Lucky Charms are letters (the grain part, not the marshmallows). I can’t remember for sure though…
awesome comments are awesome 😉
Seems to me that the auto manufacturers can skip the GPS/trip computer/stereo thing and just put a bracket on the dashboard for an ipad. A few custom apps and off you go. You could even replace the instrument panel entirely with an ipad. When you arrive, just remove the ipad and no worries about theft of your car or its electronics.
