Alleged iPhone 5 pics surface just in time to steal all the CES thunder
Apple may not be attending CES, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t found a way to dominate the tech headlines. New pics and a video purporting to show the next generation of the iPhone have hit the interwebs today, and if YouTube is to be believed, Apple legal has already had them pull the video, lending some degree of credibility to their authenticity.
Of course, there’s still a chance all we saw was a prototype iPhone 4 that Apple didn’t want out there, (or dare we say it – the Verizon iPhone?) as there appeared to be mainly small internal differences between the new device and the iPhone 4 we all know and… like.
Of note, one major change between the models appears to be the antenna design which, as we all know, was NOT an issue in the iPhone 4, so I am BAFFLED as to why THAT would be so drastically changed, while the exterior form factor remain identical to the current model. If indeed these images turn out to be the real deal, it’s looking to us like the iPhone 5 might turn out to be an iPhone 4G S, as with the iPhone 3G S, and merely a speed bump and feature refinement than a true generational update.
Wait – the death grip black strip is still on the bottom right side of the phone. The strips on the top end of the iPhone4 weren’t the alleged issue.
hah, YouTube pulled the video because of claims from Apple
There was nothing wrong with the antenna design. Sometimes you just have to change things to be able to call it the next version.
