Netflix app gets subtitles
Some movies are better read than heard (or perhaps skipped altogether, as is the case with 1995’s Batman Forever). Well, luckily now you have the option to mute that horrible audio and read along, imagining better acting, as Netflix has just added support for Subtitles to its iOS apps.
Aside from avoiding horribly spoken dialogue, closed captions are actually a pretty sweet thing if you’re someone who regularly watches movies on your iPhone while at the gym or other high-noise area. For the moment your only subtitle options seems to be ENGLISH or OFF, and the little subtitles balloon doesn’t appear on every Netflix offering (Firefly, for instance, does not seem to support it) but I’m sure they will trickle through eventually.
By the way, if you’re looking for a good movie to watch while working out, I HIGHLY recommend Batman Forever, as you will get SO angry at the film you’ll be able to bench press a car.
LOL. Great captions.
subtiles not available on HTC EVO when using Netflix app
Is there a way for the viewer to turn off the subtitles/captions? They are nice on occasions but having them on all the time can also be distracting.
I would like closed captioning for movies as I love to watch movies but have recently gone deaf. I cannot read lips too well and really miss watching movies. Is there a way to see which movie is CC before I rent/download it to my iPhone?
