Samuel L. Jackson and Zooey Deschanel pretend Siri actually works

Two new iPhone adds hit the interwebs this morning starring Zooey Deschanel and everybody’s favorite foul-mouthed Jedi, Samuel L. Jackson. The focus of both ads seems to be that Siri, Apple’s voice-activated assistant, is useful, something I never found to be the case. In fact, I deactivated her to stop from accidentally invoking her iconic beep while trying to do other things. Since I personally never had any luck with Siri, it’s no wonder I find these ads a bit annoying. However, I found Zooey’s ad in particular to be irritating, as she asks Siri the lamest of questions, such as “Is it raining?” and then rushes to the window because she doesn’t believe her. At least Jackson is asking for unit conversions, something that would normally take 10 seconds to find out the old fashioned way. Anyway, here they are, for your viewing… pleasure?

I use Siri constantly and never have any trouble with it. I mostly use Siri for controlling music playback, for sending and reading text messages when I’m driving, setting alarms, reminders and calendar events. The only gripe I have with Siri is that it’s a little slow.

I asked Siri to introduce me to Zooey Deschanel and she pretended she didn’t know what I meant. Bad Siri!

Siri works best when you speak like a computer.

First let me say, Zooey Deschanel, is a good looking woman and needs to be a “Mac Chick of the Month”! I’m really surprised Siri can even understand the hell Zooey is saying.

I tried everything they asked Siri and got appropriate responses for each. I wonder what the trouble some people have is.
