Stop crying, its just a marketing motivation for people to buy one model up.
Those who settle with the base model only use it to browse the internet and type a document and have no clue what to do with a dvd burner.
Roger, I realize it is a marketing ploy to get you to buy another model. But I disagree that base model users would be baffled by the ability to burn DVDs, when presumably they understand the concept of burning CDs. It is my opinion (and that’s all it is) that Apple’s 3-model scheme is nice, in that it makes it easier for idiots to choose the model computer that best suits them, but it is lame in that when you hit “customize”, you can change almost everything EXCEPT the $15 optical drive, thus really making it a $200 optical drive.
This is pathetic. The SuperDrive (optical disc variety) has been on Apple laptops since December 2006 … BY NOW this drive itself is a commodity, even considering Apple’s lack of economies of scale. They’re just being cheap.
Can you add on a USB floppy drive, too?

Yep, what the guy above said!

Wow…I didn’t even look. I just assumed it would be a SuperDrive this time.
I agree with the doctor, Roger.
Sssh, don’t complain. You will anger the Jobs, and suddenly the low end MacBook will come with a 5.25″ floppy disk!!!
