Woah - Macenstein

Woah

This would obviously be cooler in a Mac, but it’s still pretty damn cool.

Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader James for the tip!

that’s amazing! i can’t wait till the larger SSDs get cheaper in price.

I still wanted to see windows boot time.
the .5 second office test could of had office loaded already (reboot , open word, close word, then reopen, it opens alot quicker the second time)

still – its very impressive speed, but damn, the cost for all that! thats deposit on a home territory 🙂

Well, that fact that he is using SSDs isn’t the main reason this is to fast, it’s the number of concurrent drives the RAID stripe can pull data off of . .

point being, 20 some odd conventional HDDs in a RAID would be pretty damn fast as well.

Despite all that money and all that speed, did you notice how long it took for Hearts, one of the simplest of MS programs, to load? I doubt you’ll find a better illustration of the difference between MS coding and Apple’s.

    Awesome video shrine to geekiness.

    @imajoebob

please, get your head out of your a$$. It is design to load that way, is an animation, crappy, but designed to take that amount of time, humans are not able to see cards being dealt at the speed of light…

and yeah, it would be cooler on a mac, too bad you can’t do it without violating apple’s OS X license…

So when will we see one of these in a giveaway on macenstein.com?

  8. Jayson says:

The Mac Pro equivalent thereof, of course.

  9. Gringer says:

    LMAO at 2.18 – Vista asks “Cancel or Allow” xD – (–> Get a Mac : Security 😛 )

  10. Wendy says:

Holy freakin’ crap… that was awesome…

So it “only” takes 6TB of SSD drives to make Vista WORK! ha!!

  11. Teegan says:

Why would you use windows vista???? He should have used Linux – the file transfer would have been much faster because Linux’s transfer protocol is more streamlined.

  12. imajoebob says:

While I would enjoy seeing this on a Mac (just because), it makes sense to use Vista.
Which is more impressive: a Ferrari going 250mph, or a Chevy Malibu at 225?

  13. Mr Clicky says:

All that grunt ad the Windose crowd still play a daggy little card game called ‘Hearts’
