I smell a June 24th iPhone 4G launch date
Looks like AT&T may have accidentally spilled the beans on the iPhone 4G launch date by prematurely sending out “replies” to all the anticipated service outage reports it expects to have on June 24th… at least if this text sent to faithful Macenstein reader Frank is any indication:
I thought this might be amusing. Note the dates. The best part is that while I have the Mark the Spot app, I’ve never used it. Perhaps AT&T just knows that I’m going to experience a dropped call on June 24th, 2010.

I use it off and on and have never received anything like this. I am in upstate NY which may have something to do with it. They do not need more cell, just capacity here. SO I think this is just coincident.
Sean; upstate NY? Same here – Utica. I’ve actually gotten a text like this once, but have only downloaded the Mark The Spot app – never really used it.
Coverage in my area is great. Rural places where Verizon-using friends get no coverage, I have 5 bars. I think we’re just fine up here.
I used it and got the same text back, but of course for the location I had entered. My date was 3 months ago (March XX, 2010), so I suspect the 6/24/10 date simply an error.
Hrm. Might be sooner.
