iMac Hit by 8.9 Magnitude Quake in Japan
The tragedy in Japan just keeps getting worse…
Luckily it looks like the iMac’s owner got out safely. Our thoughts go out to our Japanese readers.

I’d probably die trying to get my iMac out of the house. Odd she chose that to video.
Wow. I can’t imagine being in an Earthquake, but I bet if I WAS my first thought would not be to start videoing it.
But then again, I’m over 30 years old.
🙂
hey, there’s a new selling point. iMacs: they can withstand 8.9 magnitude earthquakes!
@Rowlings probably for insurance purposes. haha
Who cares? It’s just a computer. The person got out alive and unharmed – You lot could do with growing up a bit; why on earth would you bother to post this with all else that is going on there? It’s completely irrelevant. I’ve been in an earthquake (in Tokyo) and it was just a baby one; the last thing you care about is your Mac. If you do then you need your head examining; then again, if you grab your Mac maybe you can use it to communicate when you’re paraplegic and eating through a bloody straw. Jeez.
@dawson…yeah, that was my first thought while watching this too. I would not have the presence of mind to start capturing this on video. I would be in the fetal position sucking on my thumb or I would be the one running the hell out of the house only to get hit by a tree.
Thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan and those not yet hit by the tsunami.
I seriously saw this video for the first time on the Today Show this morning, and when I saw the iMac shaking, I actually screamed put loud.
Hysterical you posted it for me to relive.
Anyway, thoughts and prayers going out to everyone and anyone involved.
IDK, I’d imagine there’s only so much terror you can experience… Adrenaline will kick in to keep you conscious and able to avoid death… And in this modern world, adrenaline = time to record something on video. I did the same thing when a wind storm brought trees down through my house.
