Why we’re not buying the Asus/Apple iTablet rumor

Just as I was able to confidently predict Apple would never release a touchscreen iPod, 🙂 so too am I convinced these recent Apple/Asus tablet PC rumors are untrue. I do not doubt Apple has an “iTablet” touchscreen portable prototype locked away deep inside its R&D labs, (after all, they submitted their patent for one back in 2005), but there are a couple things that, to my mind at least, still put the Apple tablet a fair ways off. First, what is the perceived... Read More

Apple’s first “Mac Chick”?

And here we thought we were being original. An anonymous reader sent us this pic of a purported Apple ad, circa 1990 for what appears to be the Mac Classic (Aka “Civic”). We’re unable to verify its authenticity (perhaps the Woz, who we know reads this site daily, can help us out?) but if legit it appears Apple may have invented our Mac Chick feature back when we were somewhere in the 4th or 5th grade. Odds are it was this type of thinking that eventually got... Read More

6 degrees of Steve Jobs: Round 8 – Britney Spears

Well, it’s Friday, and you know what that means! Another thrilling round of 6 Degrees of Steve game. We created this game under the premise that because of his ties to the entertainment industry, it may be possible to link Steve Jobs to almost every famous person in history (except, oddly enough, Kevin Bacon) through a series of past events. Let’s play! Everyone knows Apple’s gear is “hip with the kids”. For Round 8, we thought we’d see if... Read More

Apple banning sales of iPod touch/iPhones to teenagers in order to beef up security

Apple today announced that it will be banning sales of its popular iPhone and iPod touch music players to persons under 18 years of age. The move comes after 3 successful and highly publicized hackings of the devices by teenagers, who, apparently with more free time on their hands than adults, can afford to devote hours and even days to such efforts. “We kind of hoped the release of Halo 3 would put an end to iPhone hacking,” read an Apple statement. “But that... Read More

6 degrees of Steve Jobs: Round 7 – Maria Sharapova

To test this theory (and pass the time on slow news days), we have created the 6 Degrees of Steve game. Let’s play! For Round 7, we thought we’d mix up this sausage... Read More

6 degrees of Steve Jobs: Round 2 – Kato Kaelin

Ok, Round 1 was actually pretty successful, with some fairly creative solutions. Since things are still looking a bit bleak in the way of Mac news today, let’s bring on Round 2 of our new feature “6 Degrees of Steve“. This round features everyone’s favorite non-Ito OJ trial celebrity (from the first OJ trial, that is), Kato Kaelin. Anyone out there have the ability to link him to the almighty Steve in 6 steps or less? Good luck!  Read More
