Upcoming Defenders of Ardania appears to kick ass
I’m not usually one to post news of an upcoming game I’ve never played, but Paradox Interactive’s Defenders of Ardania looks like it will be one hell of a Tower Defense game, which as long-time readers know, is my gaming genre of choice. The title is allegedly set for a multi-platform launch, which will include Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, PC, and the iPad, and while I don’t know which platform the below video is taken from, it looks amazing. via... Dolphins one step closer to taking over the world
Any of you wishing you could afford an iPad but can’t seem to put together the funds might as well stop reading now, because friggin animals now have iPads. That’s right, Mexico’s own Merlin the Dolphin is apparently the first animal to get an iPad, thanks to dolphin researcher Jack Kassewitz of Speak Dolphin. “The use of the iPad is part of our continuing search to find a suitable touchscreen technology which the dolphins can activate with the tip of... How To: Get thousands of back issue comics on your iPad for pennies an issue
Comics and iPads – two extremely geeky things that go great together. And while I have the DC, Marvel, ComiXology, IDW, and Archie apps, one thing they all have in common is the digital issues don’t quite reflect the cost savings you would think would accompany ditching the printing, shipping, and restocking fees associated with going paperless. But this holiday season while monitoring Amazon’s lightning deals, I stumbled across a very cost effective way to get... Read More

New Fieldrunners update is AWESOME (Except that it sucks)
This Thursday a new free update to Fieldrunners arrived on my iPad (a paid version for the iPhone subsequently hit today) featuring multi-player and 3 new maps. As anyone who knows me knows, Fieldrunners is perhaps my all-time favorite iOS game, so I viewed this unexpected update as a true Christmas miracle. All three new maps are awesome, the new towers are awesome, the multi-payer is awesome – EVERYTHING about the update is awesome, except for one thing. It sucks. As... Read More
Games that don’t suck: Helsing’ Fire
GAMES THAT DON’T SUCK is a feature dedicated to games that I think are well worth your hard earned money, but not worth me sitting down and spending 3 hours crafting an in-depth review (these things are 99¢ after all). However, you can rest assured that any game bearing Macenstein’s GTDS rating is worth buying, sight unseen, based solely on my expert opinion. Helsing’s Fire [iPhone 99¢, iPad $1.99, Lite (free)] is a game I meant to review a few months ago,... Read More
New iPad case screams “beat me up”
We often hear reports of thugs stealing Apple gear, but USBfever is selling an iPad case so nerdy, I think regular law-abiding citizens may feel compelled to beat you up and take your iPad, just on principal. Behold the FOLIO URBAN Wide Case for iPad Well, if walking around typing with your iPad displayed like that doesn’t get you attacked, certainly wearing that shirt will. Read More
David takes on Goliath in iPad publishing biz
Michel Elings and Jochem Wijnands These days the big news seems to be that media moguls the likes of Richard Branson and Rupert Murdoch have decided to make the move from traditional print publications onto the iPad. While this is all well and good, there are a slew of smaller, unknown digital publishers looking to break on to the iPad as well, some with offerings every bit as slick as as the established billionaires. One such app is TRVL Magazine, a free travel app that sports... Read More
