Hate your pet? Then you’ll LOVE Cat Piano

It seems to me as though the only reason people get cats is so they can screw with them on video. And if you’re an Apple geek looking for a way to mess with your cat’s head, it seems the tool of choice is “Cat Piano“, for iPhone, iPod touch, and now, in glorious iPad HD. Check out some of these examples of people screwing with their cats using the app. Common themes found in these videos are people with cats seem to have futons and more than one cat.... Read More

Apple announces I should put my iPad on eBay

Hmmm… so how much will you international readers pay for my (slightly used) 64 GB iPad? I am now entertaining offers. “CUPERTINO, Calif., April 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Apple today released the following statement: Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad™. We have also taken... Read More

Steve jobs calls the kettle “black”

“It’s just common sense not to use another company’s trademarks in your app name.” Those are the words of Steve Jobs in response to an e-mail from app developer Chris Ostmo whose journalPad app was just forced to undergo an expensive re-branding or risk being pulled from the app store for including the word “Pad” in the title. The problem of course is (aside from the fact that Apple does not actually own a trademark on the word “Pad”)... Read More

The REAL benefit to being an iPad early adopter

When new technology comes out, cynics often claim that the early adopters pay the price not only in actual dollars, but by serving as guinea pigs for ironing out buggy 1st gen software and missing out on the cool 2nd generation hardware. But when I brought home my new iPad to the loving arms of the Bride of Macenstein, she had an experience that no 2nd gen iPad owner is likely to ever have. (For a couple of hours at least) she had one of the TOP 10 FLIGHT CONTROL SCORES IN THE... Read More

100 year old woman loves her iPad

What do you get a 100 year old woman for her birthday? Any sane person would say “an XBox 360”, yet these people apparently got Granny (or great great granny?) a brand new iPad. And Guess what? She LOVES it. Almost as much as her relatives enjoy drinking and watching her use it. (And yes, we’ve already reached out to see if she’ll be our next Mac Chick of the Month). Well, here’s ONE iPad that will be on eBay in a couple months (oh come one, you... Read More

Comic Artist Jim Lee draws Wonder Woman on his iPad while getting a hair cut

Comic book legend Jim Lee, the man single-handedly responsible for warping my perceptions of how long a woman’s legs should be, was getting his hair cut yesterday and decided to try out Sketchbook Pro on his iPad while he waited. He posted his in-progress concept sketches of Wonder Woman as he went, and as you can see (if you have talent) the iPad is a viable sketching tool. All in all the sketch took him 80 minutes, which is a bit long for a Jim Lee hair cut, if I recall... Read More

These iPad apps are so stupid they’re brilliant

If this sign doesn’t bring in the ladies, I don’t know what will. Digital signage apps have been around for the iPod Touch and iPhone for years now, but the iPad brings a whole new level of cool to the using-your-$600-gadget-as-a-$1-“For Rent”-sign game. Check the two new (Free) iPad apps by Laan Labs. First up is iSigns HD, a collection of over 150 high quality signs covering most road signs, warning signs, and international signs you’re likely... Read More

No iPads in stock? Just buy a Hyundai

Faithful Macenstein reader Dan points us to one of the more unusual auto promotions going on right now. Hyundai has decided to cash in on the iPad craze by offering a free iPad with every new 2011 Hyundai Equus. While giving away the latest Apple product to entice buyers is nothing new, what makes the iPad tie-in unique is that Hyundai has decided to load the Equss’ user manual onto the iPad. and it’s not just going to be a lame PDF or something. Hyundai Motor America... Read More

Everything I want you to know about the iPad

I love you. You may recall when Apple first announced the iPad I was fairly dead set against getting it, more or less for one reason – no Netflix support. Well, guess who announced their iPad app a couple days ago, and guess who was waiting in line at Best Buy this morning? Yes, I’m not sure why I couldn’t get it into my head that Apple didn’t need to “build in” Netflix support – Netflix could at any time make an iPad app, but it seemed like... Read More
