Hmmm… “Bogner Vision” looks suspiciously like a 24-inch iMac…

The famous German fashion company Bogner, best known for their ski fashions, has apparently begun branching out into the world of consumer electronics. Behold “Bogner Vision”. Actually, that’s just a 24-inch iMac that Bogner decided to modify with their logo to run their store displays. I guess one way to subliminally let your customers know you overcharge for your clothes is to spend three times the cost of a regular 24-inch LCD TV and use an iMac instead. Thanks... Read More

Redefining “refurbished”

Overstock.com is selling what they call an Apple iMAC G5 Laptop (Refurbished). Not sure whether they refurbished an iMac into a laptop, or a laptop into an iMac, but either way, they went above and beyond what we normally expect when we hear “refurbished”. The description reads: “Take your technology anywhere with this G5 desktop computer”. Anywhere, eh? Like the chiropractor? They list it at 18.5 lbs. Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Kyle for the... Read More

The reader made me do it

[UPDATE: Yep, new iMacs, see below for specs] I promised nearly a year ago that I would never again write an article saying “Apple store is down“, and I plan to stick to that. But I can’t help what my readers write… “I just nipped to the store to price up a laptop, and: http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore/ They’ll be back soon! It’s not even a Tuesday! – Philip” I suppose with all those iMac rumors/confirmations,... Read More

Popular Mechanics pits iMac vs. Gateway One and MacBook vs. Asus M51SR – Guess who wins?

digg_url = 'http://digg.com/apple/Popular_Mechanics_pits_Mac_vs_Gateway_Asus_Guess_who_wins; It’s fanboy Tuesday here at Macenstein! Popular Mechanics recently ran two comparison tests between the latest iMac and the Gateway One, and the latest Penryn MacBook vs. Asus M51SR. “In both the laptop and desktop showdowns, Apple’s computers were the winners. Oddly, the big difference didn’t come in our user ratings, where we expected the famously friendly... Read More

Watch a drunken Jeff Goldblum pitch the iMac

Move over “Cheeseburger-eating Hasselhoff“, there’s a new drunk in town! What happens when you take the classic 1999 Jeff Goldblum iMac commercial and slow it down about 30 percent? You get a hilarious piece of footage capable of taking Goldblum’s kids away in any future custody battle! This works particularly well because of Goldblum’s somewhat slurry speech pattern to begin with. Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Jonathan for the link!  Read More

UK hotel chain adds iMacs to the list of in-room amenities

Faithful UK Macenstein reader Brian has a bit of good news for those of you planning to travel to the UK but don’t feel like crating up your desktop to bring with you. Hotel chain City Inn has decided to put a brand new iMac in every room in its London and Manchester hotels. Above: Using the iMac’s built-in iSight camera, guests can presumably broadcast live web cam sex shows in order to help pay for the room. According to Macworld UK, City Inn has partnered with... Read More

Gotta love our faithful readers!

Faithful Macenstein reader Jerrett writes: Greetings Doc- I was having a Mac party tonight, really I was just simultaneously upgrading macs to Leopard and installing software. I Apple tech on the side for extra cash, and my uncle just happens to be a re-seller so it works out for both of us. Anyways, I realized I had 6 Macs in the room at one time and decided to snap a photo for you. Can you spot which one of these machines is an abomination of Apple? I actually have 9 macs,... Read More

The new nano: Has Jonathan Ive lost it?!?

Posted by Dr. Macenstein As the lead designer of the iMac, iPod, and iPhone, Johnathan Ive has an impressive track record for coming up with eye-pleasing yet functional designs. Unfortunately, if recently leaked photos of the upcoming nano prove to be legit (and it is looking like they may be) it looks like Ive may have gone to the creativity well one too many times. Now, of course no one knows for sure that those photos are indeed of the actual upcoming nano, but let’s... Read More
