Melon Golf: Tim Burton meets Tiger Woods

Just thought I’d throw out a recommendation to iPhone-physics lovers of a game I’ve been playing the past few days – Melon Golf As you play each round you can unlock Stars which will in turn unlock bonus rounds in the Nightmare Course. I think the reason I like Melon Golf so much is that it really has very little to do with Golf – it’s actually much more similar to games like Cannon Challenge and Castle Smasher than golf. The object of the game is to launch... Read More

iPhone + 100 mph + pavement = ?

Apple’s iPhone “Tech Specs” page posts tons of useful information about the iPhone designed to keep users from inadvertently damaging their devices – such as optimal operating temperatures, optimal altitude, humidity, etc. But two glaring omissions on the page are the “optimal velocity” and “optimal amount of tonnage” the iPhone can handle. “Hey there Doc, I’m a long time Macenstein reader and instantly thought of sending... Read More

Confirmed? TomTom’s iPhone GPS Car mount will work with iPod touch, as well as 3rd party navigation apps

Our good friends over at Mac4ever had a sit down with Yann Lafargue, who handles PR for TomTom, and were able to confirm a couple pretty interesting things about TomTom’s forthcoming GPS car kit. It has been known for some time that the car kit was more than a simple mount and charger – it also includes a built in GPS unit designed to replace the iPhone’s somewhat more flaky GPS. Lafargue confirmed many people’s suspicions/hopes by announcing that thanks to... Read More

Game maker uses iTablet rumors to plug its iPhone game

OK, the compositing leaves a bit to be desired, but this insanely fake “iTablet” leaked video running the upcoming iPhone tower-defense game “Towers of War” by Conniption Entertainment is still a pretty clever promotional idea, given how high the demand for iTablet rumors has gotten these days. BTW, I wouldn’t mind testing that game out, if the developers are reading this.  Read More

“iFlighter Control” totally revamps the Flight Control genre

If you look quickly at these shots of the new game iFlighter Control you might foolishly think the game is a total rip-off of the wildly successful game Flight Control which has dominated the iTunes charts for months. But if you look closely, you’ll notice that the developers cleverly moved the pause button to the top of the screen from the bottom, thus totally changing the gameplay, and completely justifying Apple letting this original gem of a game through. Bravo Apple!... Read More

As if we needed further proof that Ostriches prefer the Blackberry

As if we needed further proof that Ostriches prefer the Blackberry, check out this horrific video shot on an iPhone 3Gs by YouTuber ldj5000. “iPhone vs Ostrich at Safari West. I dropped my iPhone while recording video of ostriches on a safari tour. Safari staff (my heroes) retrieved it eventually and not only did it survive this vicious ostrich attack (it still works) but the video camera captured it all.”  Read More

WTF is up with Palm’s creepy Pre ads?

If you were trying to compete with an established, icon-ly cool portable device heralded for its ease of use, versatility, and hip, fun attitude, would you: A) Create a similarly fun, hip ad, maybe even hiring a celebrity pitchman B) Decide to focus more on the business customer and downplay the hip, fun thing C) Go right for the kill and immediately pull out the “Twin Peaks”-esque super creepy albino chick trapped in the Windows Vista desktop dream world? I mean,... Read More

Review: iCam – Who knew watching your own stuff could be so fun?

For iPhone owners, there are now hundreds of extremely cool applications capable of eliciting satisfying “oohhs” and “ahhhs” from jealous non-iPhone users, but iCam might just top them all. Yes, if you’ve ever gotten into a heated debate with a blackberry or Pre owner about which phone has the coolest features, just wait until you show them how with the push of a button you can bring up a 4 camera, real-time security video display (with audio!)... Read More
