[UPDATE: Yes, I DID win, and yes, I DID get my prize, and yes, I DID pick a winner of the green iPhone, and NO, it was not you, sorry, it was faithful Macenstein reader Danielle (twitter @bookophile ) who won. Thanks for helping me out though, I am sure the 3Gs I won will bring you many months of joy in reading about it.] [UPDATE: Hey guys, looks like I won, thanks so much for your help! A vote for me is a vote against crap
Attention faithful Macenstein readers. I need your help. I recently stumbled upon a contest sponsored by Sorenson (makers of the Squeeze compression utility) where users upload a video describing the one feature they’d most like to see added to the iPhone, and the video with the most votes wins an iPhone 3Gs. I noticed most entries are fairly lame, so I made a slightly less lame one, and just uploaded it. Click above to vote for me. We all have our own list of “missing... Read More
When it comes to making iPhone apps, if you snooze, you lose
Last October I had what I thought was a killer idea for an iPhone app. I know, I know, who hasn’t? But this was (I thought) a better idea than another Suduko puzzle or restaurant tip calculator, it was actually a fairly unique idea. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I am an animator, and while I can muddle my way through basic PHP and Flash’s Actionscript, and write some After Effects and Maya expressions, I am HARDLY a programmer. So I put out a vague call to my readers... Read More
Disheveled Celebrity Mac Chick Sighting: Sarah Silverman
Well, after a long drought of Celebrity Mac Chicks, this has been a stellar week. Faithful Macenstein reader stupod sent us two iPhone shots he noticed from Sarah Silverman‘s Twitter. Went running in Tompkins Sq Park and ended up adopting 11 kids. I am such an impulse buyer! Ben “Jewish” Schwartz and myself on the set of Peep World. We are brother and sister. Read More
Review: Defender Chronicles – It’s better than Percocet
I thought I’d take a quick moment to give a shout out to Defender Chronicles ($2.99 iTunes link), a game so addicting that it pretty much got me through my 3-day appendectomy stay in the hospital last month and made me forget the pain the way Percocet couldn’t. Since for the most part I was in too much pain to sleep I more or less played Chronicles for 96 hours straight, and was actually a little sad when I was discharged from the hospital because I knew that it... Celebrity Mac Chick sighting revisited: Alyssa Milano
Above: Anyone else pleasantly surprised by how well Alyssa is aging? Eagle-eyed faithful Macenstein reader Christoffer spotted the second-hottest female from Who’s The Boss? (right behind Mona, of course) sporting her iPhone at a Chelsea and Inter Milan soccer game. I never in a million years would have thought I’d find something worth watching at a soccer game, but these pictures have almost changed my mind. Almost. [via Hollywood Tuna] Read More
Review: Scosche’s reviveLITE for iPhone/iPod
For years now I have been wanting to charge my iPods and iPhone in dark rooms, but I’ve just been too scared. Well, thanks to Scosche’s reviveLITE, I have been able to take back the night, and can now charge my iPhone with impunity! OK, that’s a little much. I was going to start this review out by making fun of how companies are adding iPod docks to just about anything these days –including night lights – but the reviveLight actually makes a little bit... Crazy guy puts iPhone 3Gs on an RC plane
Probably the most overlooked feature of the new iPhone 3Gs is its ability to take aerial video. In fact, I could find no mention at all of it on Apple’s website. But there’s no denying that this video, taken from an iPhone taped to a remote control airplane, is pretty damn impressive. (Oh, and thanks to the wind noise, you might think it was strapped to a 747, so we recommend you turn down the audio). Hey, I can see my house from there! Thanks to faithful Macenstein...
