Hmmm… more like 107

These readings from my iPhone were taken while standing in the ocean in about 8 inches of water. Assuming the iPhone uses “sea level” as the basis for altitude, I would say the accuracy is closer to 107 feet than 56. Although, in the iPhone’s defense, I AM just under 50 feet tall…  Read More

Jailbreaking provides MASSIVE increase in iPhone battery life

Just one more benefit to Jailbreaking the iPhone. Check out this incredibly messed up battery charge sensor amazing increase in battery life one lucky jailbreaker is experiencing on his iPhone! If that’s LOW battery, odds are this dude’s iPhone can now power Connecticut, or at least Rhode Island. Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Rich for the link! [via imageshack]  Read More

I really expected this to suck

When I heard that a music video had been shot entirely with the new iPhone 3GS, I assumed both the terms “music” and “video” were being used extremely loosely. However, this video, by the artist Reyna (and yes, I’ll bestow the title “artist” upon her) not only doesn’t suck, it’s actually pretty good. The iPhone’s footage has been treated a bit, and it sure as hell wasn’t EDITED on an iPhone, but the trippy visuals... Read More

How To: Unlock Pocket God enemies in The Creeps!

Pocket God‘s creators have been doing some sneaky cross-promotion lately, allowing their happy little Pygmy Islanders to pop up in other developer’s games as secret unlockables. The latest, and coolest such Pocket God came is is one of my favorite games, The Creeps! Whether you’re a fan of Pocket God, or if you just want a couple new Creeps to battle, this hint is sure to add hours to the already enjoyable gameplay of the Creeps! Read More  Read More

I don’t know, call me skeptical, but…

Hopefully there’s a follow up book on how to WASH that money… Author Dottie Randazzo’s new book How to Shit Money to Get an iPhone sounds interesting enough, however, I would imagine that depending on whether or not you are a current, under-contract AT&T customer, you might have to shit obscenely unhealthy amounts of money to get that iPhone. Hopefully there’s a “consult a physician“-type health warning somewhere on the back.  Read More

Who needs Calculator? The iPhone’s Mail app can do math!

I ran into an odd problem today with my Mail on my iPhone. As you can see below, one of my IMAP accounts now thinks I have “negative 1” e-mails. The funny thing is, it appears that Mail actually understands negative numbers, as you can see the icon shows that I only have 1 message, as 1 -1 +1 = 1. I sent another message to myself, and yes, Mail knows that 2 -1 +1 = 2. This seems to be an odd IMAP glitch others have experienced as well, according the Apple support... Read More

Palm owners complain about defects, cheap construction, Oreos

Sure, the iPhone 3GS may be running hot enough to allegedly nearly melt the white models, but at least its keyboard doesn’t squeak! Ahhh, the joys of a touchscreen… According to ABC News, owners of the “iPhone killing” Palm Pre (which sold 400,000 units last month, compared to the 1 million iPhone 3GS’ Apple sold its first weekend) are experiencing some hardware glitches, forcing some users to give up completely on the device after their 3rd returns. “Yeah... Read More

Rickrolling iPhone Jailbreakers

Jailbreaking sometimes has a charming, Forrest Gump-like “You never know what you’re gonna get” kind of vibe going on when installing apps. Will it indeed be sexy girls? A virus? Rick Astley? That’s probably the best thing about jailbreaking – you never know! Hmmm… sounds like the Mrs. is not a Rick Astley fan… Well, I don’t really see the problem here. I mean, who wouldn’t want a Rick Astley video constantly playing behind... Read More

Pay up, or the iPhone gets it!

Hmm… I guess they didn’t pay up. And good for them! If we negotiate with the terrorists, then they win. Here’s to the memory of the bravest little iPhone ever. You took it like a man – no whimpering, not pleading or blubbering. I’d like to see a Palm Pre show HALF as much courage. Long will you live in our hearts.  Read More
