LEGO my iPad

Sorry about that rather uninspired post title, I really couldn’t think of anything more clever at the moment… But let’s not let that take away anything from Flickr user jmenomeno‘s amazing achievement of creating a scale model of an iPad using only LEGOs. As you can see, the use of LEGOs keeps him from approaching “retina display”-like accuracy in the screen, but as someone who has spent more time than they should playing with LEGOs, I can... Read More

Review: For the kids – 2 misses and a BIG HIT from School Zone

Any parent who has bought their kid an iPod or iPad, or even just let them borrow their iPhone to shut them up in a restaurant or car ride knows how addictive Apple’s devices can be for small children (or 30+ year olds, for that matter). But along with the blessed silence comes the unavoidable pangs of guilt in knowing your child has just spent three hours playing video games instead of talking to Grandma at dinner. Well, early on I found a way to avoid those guilty feelings... Read More

This video makes me want to cry

Anyone who has every tried to draw something on the iPad will probably relate to my feeling of despair at watching this video. Apparently, as evidenced by New York artist David Kassan, it actually IS possible to make some truly inspiring art using just the $8 Brushes App and your finger, which means the reason my paintings come out so horrible is that I suck. Actually, I prefer to think he may have a more expensive finger than I do… Yes, I think I will blame it on not being... Read More

“Giving Tree” iPad decal: For all you ungrateful bastards

For all you faux Apple fans who are constantly bitching for more, More, MORE! after each Apple keynote, you may want to pick up this iPad decal of Shel Silverstein’s “Giving Tree”, so you can let the world know you will never be truly content with anything Apple gives you. And yes, I am one of those faux Apple fans. 🙂 [via OS X Daily]  Read More

It’s OK guys, you can laugh

Sometimes as fanboys our first reaction to a video like the following is an immediate “rush to defend” mentality that has us attempting justify Apple’s design choices in creating the iPad, and sometimes we end up saying stupid things like “I wouldn’t even want one if it had a camera” or some other such nonsense. But honestly, funny is funny, and this is pretty good. [via 9to5]  Read More

iPad-based Mantaray iTar is almost as weird as its inventor

Actually, it’s not even close. Inventor FRANZ KELLER is much weirder. But still, “VJFranzK” does seem to believe in his product, and will actually sell any aspiring synth musician one of his brand new Mantaray iTar’s (iPad not included) for somewhere around $300. Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader PJ for the tip!  Read More

Behold! The iMac tablet computer that never was, courtesy of Rusty

Remember all those rumors a couple years ago about Apple working on an iMac where you could remove the screen and use it as a tablet, then come home at night and dock it? Well, apparently faithful Macenstein reader Rusty does. Check out his extremely sweet iPad/iMac lovechild. The 40 gig hard drive took a dive, and there was no way I would find a cheap replacement. And the 700 MHz PPC was not going to run hulu, youtube, or facebook. The innards are in a grocery bag in... Read More

Finally, a robot C3PO could could beat up

Behold Kazu Terasaki‘s latest creations, the Walking iPad and Walking iPhone. Sure, they’re adorable, but they’re not exactly going to give the T-1000 a run for its money any day soon. Suddenly I am a lot less fearful of the robot uprising, which as you know, was my number two fear, just behind the Zombie uprising. Looks like my fear of a Live Action “Shirt Tales” movie is the new number 2! [via everyone, but Engadget started it]  Read More

iPad comic is impressive, if not funny

Behold Adam Kontra, a comedian who is no stranger to gimmicks, showing off his latest act, the iPad Comic. While Adam’s timing is certainly impeccable, his material is somewhat more peccable. Still, it’s an impressive feat of timing, and I’m sure we’ll see Adam on SNL soon, as they are no stranger to clever premises that go on a bit too long. [via Cult of Mac]  Read More

Does the iPad’s accelerometer work in Zero Gravity?

Kind of… While these Swiss “Astronauts” appear to think it does not work, the iPad clearly DOES change rotation about 39 seconds in. Still, I think I’ll probably postpone my $35 million trip to the International Space Station until Apple gets its priorities straight and starts devoting more resources towards getting its devices zero-G certified. Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Lucas for the tip!  Read More
