Aww crap, and my birthday just passed…
Each year people ask me what I want for my birthday, and each year I can’t think of anything that I want that costs less than $300, so I get nothing. Yet take a look at these kick-ass iPhone app icon Refrigerator magnets! At only $12.99 they would have made the perfect gift! … if only I had a black refrigerator… which I guess bumps the price up by at least $800… so once again I get nothing. 7 things Apple can do to REALLY clean up the App Store
When Apple decided to make its somewhat arbitrary iTunes “porn” (and I use the term loosely) purge last month, one of the made up reasons it gave for justifying the move was that developers and customers were finding it hard to find quality apps amidst all the “adult” material. Well as we saw, removing those 5,000 apps (or less than 3% of all apps) did more or less nothing to fix the issue. While we certainly do not wish to see ANY developers’... Read More
FINALLY! An iPhone stand you can kill someone with!
ForkedUpArt has finally given us an iPhone stand that not only looks cool, it can also be used to stab would-be iPhone thieves, or to eat spaghetti – your choice. Behold the Fork Head iPhone stand! Also available is the somewhat Roswell-looking Spoon Head model. Both items are $20, and come with the disclaimer that they “do not include iPhone or cable”, in case you are an idiot looking for a bargain. [via iPhone Savior] Read More
The UK’s Sun and Daily Mail fooled by iPhone Ghost app
We’re not exactly ones to check our sources, but then again, we’re a web page, and if it turns out we write something stupid, we can always hit “delete” and hope everyone forgets about it. (Yes, I know, Google never forgets). But unfortunately for UK papers the Sun and Daily Mail, their idiocy will live on in print for years. Case in point: Check out the following stories both papers ran when John Ware, a 47-year old builder, sent in a pic he allegedly... Read More
Some things are just so stupid that they’re awesome…
… and some things are just stupid. I am somewhat on the fence here about the Retro TV Dinner Turkey Corn and Mash Potatoes Gadget Case for the iPhone/iTouch. Sure, it seems like a good idea for a joke gift, but at $20 it rivals the cost of many “real” iPhone cases that a person might actually use. Now, if it looked like bacon, that would be different. But as it stands, there are simply too many carbs for me. [etsy via TUAW’s twitter] Read More
Attention Time Travelers: Your iPhone may not work in 1990
I knew there was a reason I didn’t throw out my Motorola MicroTAC 9800X! Faithful Macenstein reader Colin writes: I was bored and trying to find something to watch on Hulu when I saw this: I thought you’d get a kick out of it, apparently going back in time 17 years totally screws with the iPhone. Wow Colin. You know, I’ve been bored before, but I guess I’ve never achieved the “Let’s see if there’s any old Journeyman episodes on Hulu”... Read More
Review: Ultrasone’s Zino S-Logic Natural Surround Sound Portable Headphones
I often find it funny when I meet someone who is obsessed with their iPod or iPhone, yet continues to use the stock earbuds that ship with the device. Yes, they’re not the worst earbuds in the world (although they ARE some of the most overpriced if you need to buy a replacement set) but if you use them as your sole conduit of sound between your music player and your ears, then you are missing out on a large part of the music listening experience. To truly get the most... Read More
Miss District of Columbia hearts her iPhone
OK, sure it isn’t a “real” state, but as anyone who’s ever been mugged there knows, Washington DC is somehow able to cram a state’s worth of criminals and homeless into its 61.4 square miles, making it feel roughly as large as Delaware. And as such, DC has achieved the dream long held by American Samoa, Guam and Minor US Outlying Islands – it gets to send a chick to the Miss USA pageant. Now, as most of you know, I have every Miss USA pageant... Read More

How many orange slices does it take to charge an iPhone? About 2380
Nice to know if you’re ever in Florida with a drained iPhone and a box of metal skewers and a couple hundred feet of wire you will (eventually) be able to make a call. I’m not sure why Mophie or some other iPhone battery pack maker didn’t think to use this as a commercial for their product, but it’s pretty cool. Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Tim for the link! Read More
