Wozniak thinks Apple is lying about 3G battery life

At the recent Australian Communication Industry Association conference, Steve Wozniak made a number of interesting comments about current Apple products, such as the Apple TV, MacBook Air, and the iPhone. While many of his comments are typical “I wish it did this”, or “It’s a little overpriced”, one comment on the iPhone stuck out as interesting to me. Apple has long claimed the decision to support EDGE over 3G is due solely to battery life issues.... Read More

Poll: How much EDGE data has your iPhone sent/received?

iPhone critics often like to point to the iPhone’s reliance on AT&T’s EDGE network instead of 3G as a reason not to rush out and buy the uber phone. Personally, I’ve been quite pleased with EDGE, in both its speed and coverage. I recently checked out my iPhone’s EDGE data stats and was somewhat surprised to see I had downloaded almost 1GB of data in the 8 or so months I have owned the phone. This seemed like a lot to me, as I use my iPhone more... Read More

Celebrity Mac Chick sighting: Lindsay Lohan

Hmm… well, they say there’s no such thing as bad publicity… let’s find out! Here we see the lovely and talented… um, well, lovely, anyway… Lindsay Lohan, proudly displaying her iPhone as she scampers away from the paparazzi and on to her next rehab facility. I suppose given the fact that Read More  Read More

Show your iPhone a good time with iNdependence v1.4

Our good friend Will over at IntoMobile has alerted us that iNdependence v1.4 beta 5 has been released. So what is iNdependence? Well, according to the above picture, it will either Jailbreak your iPhone, or have sex with it. Actually, iNdependence bills itself as a Mac-only “easy-to-use interface for jailbreak, activation, SSH installation, and ringtone/wallpaper/application installation on your iPhone.” This is the first 1.1.4 firmware hack we’ve seen,... Read More

Publicity stunt, gimmick, or ploy? You Decide!

Abilene Christian University first university in nation to provide iPhone or iPod touch to all incoming freshmen. And there’s probably a reason for that. I’m sorry… I am all for schools adopting the latest and greatest technology (especially Apple’s) but this has the words “publicity stunt” written all over it. I’m not sure giving away a $400 gadget these days is enough to boost enrollment numbers, and odds are you either want to go to... Read More

Apple announces it might announce the iPhone SDK soon… or not

For those of you waiting to get your hands on the iPhone SDK, the wait is almost over. Or maybe not. Apple has sent the following invite out to select members of the press (ours should be arriving any second now….) “Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features.” Hey, that sounds great, and only a week late! However, if you re-read that, Apple doesn’t actually say you’ll... Read More

iPhone firmware 1.1.4 released! And the new features are…um… nothing?

Well, it doesn’t exactly add Flash support, or any discernible new features at all, but Apple has released the highly anticipated (and therefore highly disappointing) iPhone firmware 1.1.4. All that is mentioned under What’s New is “bug fixes”, which if it stops Safari from crashing on my iPhone while I listen to music, I’m all for.  Read More

SDK delay is A-OK with Apple PR!

The Mac universe has been rocked these past couple of day by reports that Apple’s iPhone SDK will be delayed, perhaps by as much as 3 weeks. While no doubt this news will likely account for a fair number of suicides this weekend, there is one group of people that are likely dancing a Bruce-Willis-Last Boy Scout Jig… Apple’s PR department. I’ve mentioned before (and with no facts to back me up) that Apple must spend the least amount of money on advertising... Read More

Tiny Code says it was all a hilarious joke. Get it?

iPhone Atlas reports that Tiny Code’s iPhone firmware 1.1.4 “leak” was apparently “a joke” perpetrated by Kelly from Tiny Code, for reasons known only to Kelly, but we’re betting it has something to do with Kelly being a tool. “Tiny-Code never had any relations with Apple, Inc. or any other division of Apple. Never had the new firmware or any pre-SDK pack. Certainly never signed any NDA. I find it interesting that a simple joke on the... Read More
