iPods and iPhones that can heal themselves… We’re one step closer to the robot uprising

We’ve all seen it in movies a thousand times… A snail-loving scientist wonders if there is a way to bond protein to various elements in the periodic table and grow new materials, one thing leads to another, and then BAM! Skynet becomes self aware on August 29th 1997 2:14 am Eastern Time. Well, if the trade-off for our eventual enslavement by robots is an iPod that can heal itself of scratches, then I for one would like to welcome our new robot overlords. According... Read More

iEmulator for iPhone/iPod touch – Finally, the “I Love You” virus can run on the iPhone

Above: that’s right, we’re assuming if Windows DOES ever run on the iPhone, the auto-rotate feature won’t work (actually, we were just too lazy to do a proper Photoshop job). iEmulator has announced that thanks to Apple’s recently announced iPhone SDK, it will be able to bring a Windows emulator to the iPhone by the 2nd quarter of this year. Apple set to release OS X 10.4.12

Anyone still care about OS X 10.4 anymore? Well, if the answer was “yes”, put down that bottle of “New Coke”, turn off that episode of Max Headroom, and take a listen to this, grandpa! We have it on good authority (meaning this is a rumor, and “good authority” could mean anything) that Apple is ready to drop its final update to yesterday’s OS, aka “Tiger”. That’s right. 10.4.12 is allegedly ready to roll, and will... Read More

Hints that the Beatles iTunes launch getting closer? 1 to 2 weeks?

The whole “Beatles on iTunes speculation” thing has pretty much burned me out. I am perhaps one of the few people who doesn’t really care one way or the other about whether or not the Beatles come to iTunes. Sure, it would be a little exciting if the Beatles were an iTunes exclusive artist, but odds are that isn’t going to happen. I own all the Beatles albums on CD already, and while I realize Beatles fanatics rival only the KISS Army in loyalty and... Read More

Apple announces it might announce the iPhone SDK soon… or not

For those of you waiting to get your hands on the iPhone SDK, the wait is almost over. Or maybe not. Apple has sent the following invite out to select members of the press (ours should be arriving any second now….) “Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features.” Hey, that sounds great, and only a week late! However, if you re-read that, Apple doesn’t actually say you’ll... Read More

The reason you should never buy anything

Just a day after the new MacBook Pro/Macbooks were announced, MacRumors is reporting that new versions of both portables will be released this June. The updates are expected to incorporate Intel’s Montevina Centrino 2 chips, as the company begins to phase out the current Santa Rosa chips that were the bee’s knees just a few months ago. Predicting new Apple product releases has gotten a whole lot easier since Apple switched to Intel processors, as Intel makes its product... Read More

New MacBook Pros tomorrow (no, this is not a duplicate post)

Well, here we are at the start of another week, which means the rumor community is once again ready to predict new MacBook Pros will be released tomorrow (that makes the 7th time in as many weeks, for those of you counting). Actually, this week there is a slightly better than average chance it might actually happen, as MacRumors is reporting that shipments of TimeCapsules AND “other” Apple products are on their way to stores for midweek delivery. Those of you who... Read More

Elgato releases EyeTV 3.0.1 – The begining of the end for TitanTV?

Well, nothing incredibly major hear, but as a fan of EyeTV I’m always happy to see “numerous bug fixes” listed in an update, even if I haven’t encountered them yet. The big news in this update seems to be new support for the XMLTV Electronic Programming Guide. The XML guide seems to have the potential to be very cool, and looks like it’s perhaps showing clues at Elgato’s “Plan B” when it eventually distances itself from TitanTV.... Read More

[UPDATED] Rumor: thinkorswim releasing the first native iPhone investing app at SDK launch

More SDK launch rumors… thinkorswim, the most Google and Apple-centric brokerage firm known to man, may be set to release a “thinkPod” app for the iPhone. Details are extremely scarce, other than a “coming soon” notice on the site, but suffice it to say, odds are it will deliver the features already available for Blackberry and Pocket PC, and then some. A source closely monitoring thinkorswim claims there is a very good chance thinkorswim has... Read More

New MacBooks/Pros on the 19th?

Pretty much every Tuesday since Macworld, the rumor community has wondered if this would be “THE” Tuesday, the one where we’ll finally see new MacBooks and MacBook Pros. Well, while it is a far cry from a smoking gun, there is now at least a little more evidence than usual that next Tuesday might be THE Tuesday. Switch To A Mac notes that Amazon, long-time Apple partner/ruiner of Apple’s surprises, has a series of new MacBook Pro rebates out this week that... Read More
