Now THIS is why I got an iPad
Well, this, and I’m a total fanboy with no will power. That’s right people, I am watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes streaming via Netflix on my iPad. Right next to a Samsung 46 inch LED TV, on which it would look… a .. lot… better… DOH! Apparently I have an interest in “violent TV Shows…” Read More
And the first idiots to film themselves smashing an iPad are…
I think back when videos of people smashing gadgets were shocking, these guys might have appeared slightly cooler. But now you just sort of think, “Geez, they had to get up around 7:30 on a Saturday, wait on line, and spend a minimum of $500 to do this.” I can’t help thinking if I were them I would have rather slept until 11 AM and then bought a sensibly priced sofa at Bob’s Discount Furniture. This would have been awesome
Easily the best April Fool’s joke of the day is ThinkGeek’s iCade for iPad. At a price of only 149 imaginary dollars , I actually think it was underpriced. Pretty much the only thing the iPad is missing (aside from Flash, a camera, and USB) is a way to sink MORE MONEY into it. I would have loved to experience the nostalgic thrill of dropping quarters into this thing in order to play all the horrible games from my childhood, starting with Adventure for the Atari... iPad game pricing is gonna suck
Macrumors managed to get a peek at the iPad app store main page and was able to snag the following pic showing some of the upcoming prices on the new iPad-specific “HD” games. Now, admittedly I have not played any of these games, but from the screen shots I’ve seen I have not seen a whole worth paying 5 times (or more) for any of the games I already play on the iPhone. I suppose developers think people are used to paying more for something with the words HD... Read More
Steve not returning your e-mails? Ask El Jobso!
With the recent flurry of short and sweet e-mail responses from everyone’s favorite Apple CEO, odds are Steve’s inbox is now flooded with inane questions of all sorts, thus severely limiting your chances of getting a reply. In fact, believe it or not, even my recent e-mail to Steve went unanswered. But luckily for all of us, there is now El Jobso, a virtual Steve that will answer all your questions instantly, and it’s about as verbose as the real deal. Here... Read More
So, what are the odds that Amazon will sell the iPad?
[poll=11] I was looking around Amazon to see if they were taking pre-orders for Apple’s upcoming iPad yesterday, and I noticed the only search results returned for “iPad” on their site are for 3rd party cases and screen protectors and such. This seemed a little odd to me as Amazon traditionally is right on top of Apple pre-releases, and in fact has actually slipped up and let pre-orders for unannounced Apple gear show up a day or two before previous Mac events,... Yeah, what HE said
Braniac Daniel Eran Dilger from AppleInsider discusses the “No Flash for Apple Handhelds” issue, and even has some charts and stuff to back up his arguments. Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Jonro for the link! Read More
That’s either a very symmetrically placed piece of dust… OR….
OMG THE iPAD HAS A CAMERA! OK, I won’t say the iPad is going to ship with a camera, or even that that is what we are seeing here in Apple’s iPad ad, but as faithful Macenstein reader Mike points out, that does kinda sorta look like the spot a camera WOULD go, if the iPad DID have a camera. So, did they use a prototype for the commercial? Or is it simply a well-placed, (beveled) piece of dust? Is it the guy who hangs himself in the background of the Wizard of OZ?... Read More
7 things Apple can do to REALLY clean up the App Store
When Apple decided to make its somewhat arbitrary iTunes “porn” (and I use the term loosely) purge last month, one of the made up reasons it gave for justifying the move was that developers and customers were finding it hard to find quality apps amidst all the “adult” material. Well as we saw, removing those 5,000 apps (or less than 3% of all apps) did more or less nothing to fix the issue. While we certainly do not wish to see ANY developers’... Read More
