Steve jobs calls the kettle “black”

“It’s just common sense not to use another company’s trademarks in your app name.” Those are the words of Steve Jobs in response to an e-mail from app developer Chris Ostmo whose journalPad app was just forced to undergo an expensive re-branding or risk being pulled from the app store for including the word “Pad” in the title. The problem of... Read More

Apple iPhone OS 4 Event – The Good, The Bad, and the Meh

Today’s Yesterday’s iPhone OS 4 preview was chock full of announcements, and I’d wager to say there was at least something for everyone to like (assuming you don’t run an iPhone advertising or social community). As always when there is a big Apple event, we like to go over the key points of the day, and rate them as either good, bad, or meh. So sit back,... Read More

And the first idiots to film themselves smashing an iPad are…

I think back when videos of people smashing gadgets were shocking, these guys might have appeared slightly cooler. But now you just sort of think, “Geez, they had to get up around 7:30 on a Saturday, wait on line, and spend a minimum of $500 to do this.” I can’t help thinking if I were them I would have rather slept until 11 AM and then bought a sensibly priced... Read More

Is Apple destroying Flash just to make Adobe cheaper to buy?

Rumors of Apple buying Adobe have been around almost as long as rumors of Sony buying Apple. The only difference is the Adobe rumors are actually financially possible. Now, I’m not going to go into whether or not it makes financial and strategic sense for Apple to acquire Adobe, but what I would like to do is indulge one of my favorite pastimes – conspiracy theories. It’s... Read More

Ouch

Hmm… A not so subtle move on Google’s part? Oddly doing the same search for Droid Phones yields no results. I assume this either means no one has ever had a problem with one, or no one has ever bought one. [via imgur]  Read More

Stop the madness! Please sign the “iPad is NOT Magical” petition

Apple Inc. has long been known to overuse favorable adjectives when describing its products, and while we as Apple fans have perhaps grown immune to words such as “revolutionary” and “amazing”, Apple’s insistence in using the word “Magical” to describe its new iPad is just unacceptable. Even in today’s press release announcing the... Read More

Wow, I wish “Flash” were playing… get it? Flash?

I just happen to be experiencing a TON of beachballs today with my Adobe products (After Effects, mainly) and remembered this pic. (BTW, Photoshop is clearly hotter than Illustrator.) [via 9gag]  Read More

Why is Apple treating apps differently than movies and songs?

For quite a few years now Apple has been selling R-rated movies and sexually explicit songs on its iTunes store. In fact, half of the current Top 10 movies on iTunes are either Rated R or Unrated for scenes of nudity and sexual content. Currently 20% of Apple’s top 100 iTunes music chart are labeled as “explicit”, due to profanity and strong sexual material. ... Read More

Adobe: 7 million people attempt to download Flash each month to their iPhones

Adobe unleashed a pretty damaging statistic in the whole “You Suck” , “Well you smell!” thing going on between Apple and Adobe right now. Apparently despite Steve Jobs’ claims that Flash is on the way out, Adobe reports that over 7 million iPhone and iPod touch users attempted to install Flash on their iPhones in the month of December alone. Stats... Read More

New study says fewer people thinking of buying an iPad now that they actually know what it is

Retrevo, everyone’s favorite tech polling site, has published a comparison between its customer’s desire to buy an Apple tablet both pre- and post iPad keynote. The results show a marked decrease in interest in the new Apple product, with half of all respondents now saying they have NO desire to buy an iPad, down from 26% before the announcement. I kind of find this... Read More
