MIC releases yet another “Get it before Apple legal Attacks” goodie
M.I.C, the fine folks who released that amazingly detailed Steve Jobs Action figure, which Apple legal subsequently (allegedly) had pulled, and which M.I.C. subsequently began reselling after adding a ninja hood and throwing stars (I was able to snag two, in fact), is at it again, this time releasing an external USB hub that not only goes by the Apple-sounding name of “iHub”,... Bring on the haters!
Yep, Macenstein has gotten a long overdue fresh coat of paint, and if running this site for six years has taught me anything, I assume some of you would like to bitch about it. So, here’s your chance. Personally, I like it and can’t imagine there was much about the old look that anyone would defend too vigorously, but I always like to see what my readers are thinking.... Samsung’s copy machine is a little heavy with the toner
I’m currently testing out a PhoneSuit battery charger which can, among other things, not only charge iOS devices, but pretty much anything WITH a battery. So this was my first exposure to the Samsung Galaxy Tab charging tip. Given that I had never seen one, I spent a couple seconds mistakenly thinking they included an extra Apple tip and trying to force it into my iPad before... Read More
Pain like you’ve never felt
Since every current set or Apple earbuds I own now only works in one ear, I went rummaging through my collection of ancient Apple artifacts, and just under the tangerine clamshell iBook I found these, an extremely old pair of iPod ear buds. I don’t know what model iPod these came with, but it must have been from a time before human ear canals evolved into the shape we are... Read More
FCP X: It takes a big man to admit when he’s wrong, and I’m HUGE
Last night when I saw a few blurry screenshots from the Final Cut Pro X demo and read the reported new features, I was less than enthusiastic. Any of you who follow my Twitter know that the near constant mention of “borrowing from iMovie” sent shivers down my spine, as I feel iMovie is perhaps the worst piece of software Apple has ever shipped (at least starting a few... Nerd Alert! Nerd Alert!
Yes, my Justice League MacBook Pro decal is truly impressive, what with the Apple Logo illuminating Superman’s “S” and all. But to really appreciate how awesome I am, and to properly gauge just how much you should want to be my friend, I think it’s best to take a step back and view the decal in the greater context of my office. Notice how I have not only... Read More
New transparent display means everyone at Starbucks will know you’re looking at porn
I know from watching countless hours of bad TV and movies that the future of touch displays is transparent sheets of glass that magically let you throw and resize images, all the while making annoying beeps as data readouts cascade across them, but I always thought we were still a good 15 years off from that. But check out this pretty sweet video of Samsung’s new 14 inch... Read More

Review: iHome’s iD9 Portable App-friendly Rechargeable Speaker System for iPad/iPhone/iPod
Given that I very rarely move more than 10 feet during a given day, it’s odd how obsessed I am with portable iPhone speakers. I guess it’s sort of like how on the night before the first day of school each year I would run my hands across all those brand new school supplies, with thoughts of the potential of what might be. Similarly, portable speakers conjure up visions... Read More
WARNING! Keep those magnets away from that small area between your USB and Headphone port on your MacBook Air!
That’s right. No matter how tempting it is, apparently placing a magnet on the left side of a late 2010 MacBook Air, right between the USB port and the headphone jack, will cause the WiFi and screen to turn off. So far Apple has not provided a solution for users who need to store their magnets there, and Apple PR has not returned our calls on this important matter. via Notebooks.com Read More
