Are white iPhones cracking?

If there’s 2 things I don’t understand in life, they are 1) Why Apple made a white iPhone, and 2) Why anyone would buy it. At least any guy. I have previously called the white iPhone “The Girliest thing since breasts“, and I stand behind that. However, while a black iPhone may simply be my preference, there now seems to be a bonafide reason to stay away from the white iPhone. Reports are popping up on Apple’s Discussion forum and on sites like... Read More

Wow, Samsung has some pretty big balls

Hypothetical question for you… If you were going to make an iPhone clone, and you had gobs of money to hire ANY musical group in the world to appear in your commercial, would you think it would be a good idea to choose a group with the name of your main competitor in the title? Well, Samsung apparently did for their new Instinct ad (below) featuring “The Apples in Stereo”‘s “Let’s Go!“. However, before we judge Samsung too harshly,... Read More

Redefining “Slow News Day”: My ROY G. BIV iPhone screen

Sure, it’s an inefficient method for actually finding your applications, but it looks cool when scrolling through, especially when you hit “blue”. 🙂  Read More

Magic Pad brings copy and paste to the iPhone… sort of

Brian Radmin and the gang over at Proximi have created the first Rich Text Editor for the iPhone, and it looks to give us our first real glimpse at how “copy and paste” functionality will likely work on the iPhone. MagicPad is an iPhone app (currently awaiting iTunes’ approval) that allows you much of the textual functionality of Apple’s Mail Program (the version on the Mac, not on the iPhone). You can create and save drafts of text, send that text... Read More

After a hectic 48 hours, Aurora Feint is back online

Well, it’s been a hectic couple of days for the programmers behind Aurora Feint, the highly acclaimed (and then highly criticized) free RPG puzzle game for iPhone. Earlier this week word broke that Aurora Feint’s “community” feature was copying user’s contact lists, and when used, sending them out to Aurora Feint’s servers, unencrypted. Security buffs panned AF’s 2 young developers, who to their credit admitted their mistake, claiming... Read More

Win a $75 iTunes gift card, courtesy of Macenstein and and Headline

If you’re anything like me, ever since Apple opened their iTunes App store you’ve been running up quite a little tab buying apps for your iPhone/iPod touch, and if you haven’t, odds are it isn’t so much because you have amazing self control so much as you are too poor to be plunking down your hard-earned cash on an app that may suck. Well, lucky for you, we here at Macenstein feel your poverty and have come up with our easiest contest yet, and it can net... Read More

365 pictures and not a girl in a one of ’em

Here’s an idea that sounds better on paper than on YouTube… First, buy a new iPhone. Next, use its camera to take a different picture of your ridiculously bad bed head each morning. Finally, string it all together in iMovie with an original blue’s riff, and viola! Instant classic! Or not. I caught a little flack when I posted my breath-taking iPhone video documenting Read More  Read More

Is Aurora Feint the iPhone’s first Spyware?

A bit liberal with user’s data? Definitely. Spyware? I doubt it. There has recently been a bit of a buzz on the internet surrounding the extremely popular iPhone/iPod touch game Aurora Feint. I am a big fan of Aurora Feint, so I was a bit shocked to hear that apparently some people who have gotten SSH running on their iPhones under the new firmware have discovered that Aurora Feint creates a copy of all the e-mail addresses and phone numbers in your contacts list, and stores... Read More

Where the #$%@ is the iPhone 2.0.1 firmware?!

In the first 13 months of owning an iPhone I restored my iPhone ONE time, and it was a voluntary act I performed to see if it would get rid of a little sluggish behavior (which it did). Since upgrading to the iPhone 2.0 firmware, however, I have had to restore my iPhone six times, in just 8 days. And this 6th iPhone restore really hurt. Yesterday I went on a trip into NYC with the family to see Miley Cyrus perform in Bryant Park (not exactly my idea of fun). The 4am trip involved... Read More
